Daily Southern California Horses To Watch STANDARD EDITION
AN OPENING THOUGHT
The SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HORSES TO WATCH (SCHTW) has gone thru many positive changes
over the last decade as we unbelievably approach our 11th year of publishing with the opening of Del Mar 2002. But through our desired metamorphosis, everything before 06/5/02
seems to pale in comparison to taking our final step into the “e-age” with the delivery of the first “DAILY SCHTW”.
We’ve always been light years in front of our competition and continue to set
the pace in the handicapping world with our innovative SCHTW. When SCHTW clients couldn’t get barshoe information because shoe boards had literally disappeared
at the three major ovals in Southern California consisting of Del Mar, Santa Anita and Hollywood Park, we picked up the ball!
A host of other publications refused
to get their hands dirty and actually do the daily grunt work of looking at every single horse in every single race to offer our readers this essential betting information.
Not only did we offer barshoe information, we went a step further and reported all horses
running with “covered frogs”. And at the time of this writing, we remain the only source of barshoe information for our major racing circuit.
With the delivery of our first DAILY SCHTW on Wednesday 06/05/02, we are still improving
our product cover to cover and increasing the benefits to our readers. Just in the barshoe department alone, we now include all horses running in ¾ shoes, square toed shoes
and/or patched ¼ cracks----and again, that’s just in the “barshoe” department.
There have been many more improvements and “new features”
added to the DAILY SCHTW as you’ll see inside any issue.
The reason we’ve survived for last 10 years against the “giants” of this industry is because
we personally generate every single bit of information contained in our reports. We depend on nobody but ourselves! There are no second-hand bits of “inside information”
given to our SCHTW clientele and there never will be!
We have always offered our clients all
of our “proprietary” information, all of the time. We’ve never held back anything and never will!
That’s what our pay for! And that’s surely the reason why many of them have remained with us since day one!
You have my personal guarantee that we will continue to deliver
the best “inside information” that money can buy at any price!
Our daily reporting is “proprietary” in every sense
of the word and totally unduplicated in the handicapping world.
The new “on-line” DAILY SCHTW now includes the following income-producing,
“one-of-a-kind” categories:
1--RUNNING PROFILES
This area informs all SCHTW clients of exactly what running style
is winning at every specific dirt or turf distance. Are wire-to-wire horses dominating at a mile on the dirt or is it mid-pack runners? There isn’t any guesswork
with the new DAILY SCHTW, as all turf and dirt distances are updated daily and are up-to-the minute.
2--THE MASTER NO-NO LIST
This never duplicated list is the best “instant” throw out
companion in the entire handicapping world. It contains close to 1000 “problematic” horses currently running on the major Southern California circuit that you can toss out from a win standpoint
with utmost confidence! Included in the Master No-No List are all horses running with barshoes, covered frogs, three-quarter shoes, square toed shoes, “stops” “blowouts”, martingales, run-out bits,
or are current members of their unique and now infamous SCHTW vetlist.
3--THE “SPECIAL 7” CATEGORIES
These special categories are listed daily for some specific horses and are taken from the
private notes of the SCHTW staff. They include the following headings:
1---HORSES ON THE UPGRADE
2---STRONG MAIDEN PERFORMANCES
3---STIFFS
4---HORSES IN A TAILSPIN
5---IMPORTED TURF NEWCOMERS
6---NEXT OUT BOUNCERS
7---HORSES RETURNING FROM A 90 DAY OR MORE LAYOFF
4--“TRACK-SPECIFIC” BREEDING
The new DAILY SCHTW is the only publication in the world that offers “track-specific” breeding
for every single runner in every single race. Winning sire, grandsire and dam sire ratings for both the turf
and the dirt are offered separately by track for Del Mar, Santa Anita and Hollywood. “Universal” sire ratings that include all tracks across America fail to tell
handicappers if a “specific” sire, grandsire or damsire has actually produced winners over the track and the surface they are wagering on at the moment!
What works in New York, Kentucky or Florida rarely works on the major circuit in Southern California!
5—TURF RAIL POSITION LAST OUT
This crucial
information is listed for every last out turf runner. Was the rail at 10 feet out, 15 feet out, 20 feet out or 30 feet out? If it was anything but at “zero”, a horse’s last out performance has to be adjusted
to reflect this situation! For every path a horse is removed from the rail on either turn, it’s been mathematically proven that he loses a length. If the rails are out 30 feet, that is about 5 full paths.
Even if a horse runs flush against the rail in a 2-turn turf route when the rails are out 30 feet, he loses 4 lengths on each turn
vs. running against the rail when at “zero” feet. If the rails are out 30 feet, that comes to 8 total lengths and thus you can see the need for adjustments when comparing various last out good or bad
performances! This info is now at your fingertips for every turf race!
6—PADDOCK PHYSICALITY NOTES LAST OUT
Directly taken from SCHTW
staff member’s personal paddock notes, you’ll know if a horse was walking short with poor extension, had enlarged front ankles, was too thin, lacked muscle definition
, was fractious, walked wide, stood wide going under tack, had poor color, lacked energy walking with his head low and bobbing, was sore
, outright lame, had liniment plastered somewhere on his body, pinned his ears, sported a very negative east/west tail, was washy , had front leg sweat
, dripping kidney sweat, iced fronts, diarrhea, or any other negative attributes that contributes to defeat!
7---PRE-RACE WARM-UP NOTES
In order for any horse or athlete to perform to their maximum abilities, oxygen-delivering
red blood cells must be brought up from the spleen. Without them, the runner is nothing more than an also-ran! If you doubt this for one second, just ask any veterinarian or doctor! The DAILY SCHTW
now offers the serious handicapper exacting warm-up notes that include not only strong pre-race exercise that indicates the barn was “sending”, but also “trot-only”
or “walked” horses. These warm-ups or non-warm ups explain both good and bad performances. Was the “chalk” just stiffed @ 6-5 because he didn’t get a proper warm-up?
With the addition of this new and totally exclusive DAILY SCHTW feature, you’ll never have to guess again!
8—GATE NOTES LAST RACE
There are many extremely negative things that occur in the final 1 to 2
minutes leading up to the actual loading of the horses into the starting gate. This is in addition to problems at the starting gate itself! These occurrences can be difference
between winning and losing. The new DAILY SCHTW now informs readers of starting gate problems that include things like “refused gate”, “forcibly loaded”, excessive wetness or washiness
, sudden fractiousness once a horse realizes it is “showtime”, thrown jockeys indicating a horse didn’t want to race, horses prematurely breaking thru the gate both held and runaways
and many other nuances.
9—POST RACE GALLOP-OUTS FOR ALL HORSES
Horses pulled up too quickly
once crossing the finish line (regardless of actual finish position) are most likely to develop muscle soreness soon after cooled out. This soreness could last right up until and including their
next start! The critical 3 or 4 minutes of a post-race warm-down after any strenuous effort is just as important
as the pre-race warm-up. Horses should be lightly galloped out to the backstretch, turned around and lightly galloped back to the unsaddling area. This slow post-race warm-down gradually
takes a horse from maximum output to the needed relaxation state just as the pre-race warm-up takes him from relaxation to readiness for maximum output. They are different sides of the same
coin. All horses pulled up within 150 yards in the post-race are now noted as QUICK or POOR PULL-UPS!
10--OVERALL POST RACE EVALUATION NUMBER LAST OUT
Just as we offer overall physicality numbers from the paddock before
the running of a race and the actual pre-race warm-up numbers, so too do we offer our SCHTW readers overall post-race evaluation numbers to complete the entire picture
of any specific horse on any given day.
11—MISCELLANEOUS CHANGES LAST RACE
Changes of any kind can often be the difference between winning and losing for any horse.
The DAILY SCHTW has created this new feature to remind you of such changes. In the past performances, have you ever missed things like first wraps, wraps off
, gelded, blinkers on or off, first lasix, got claimed, raced without a whip, etc.? We all have at one time or another, but now it will be virtually impossible
for you to miss these basic but often crucial changes, as they are listed as your final “failsafe” when handicapping.
As a means of introducing the new DAILY SCHTW to the handicapping world, the
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HORSES TO WATCH is offering you a “free” and current DAILY SCHTW sample along with an updated User’s Guide.
Why not take a look at what your daily handicapping could be missing that might be the
difference between a winning and a losing day?
Seeing is believing and the “proof” is always in the pudding!
